PURPOSE:To make it possible to form a printing image at a high recording speed, by partially melting ink under heating by irradiating a light pulse corresponding to image information and, thereafter, re-heating said ink by energy sufficient to re-melt the ink its solidified part. CONSTITUTION:For example, He-Ne laser beam, of which the output is 10mW and the beam diameter is throttled to 10mum, is allowed to irradiate the ink layer of an ink sheet 21 on the basis of image informabion by using a laser beam generator 23 to partially melt said ink layer. The ink sheet 21 having the partially melted ink layer is contacted with a thermal head 25 under pressure through recording paper 24 by using a press platen 22 and the ink preliminarily melted on the basis of image information and solidified thereafter is re-melted to be transferred to the recording paper 24. The energy applied to the thermal head 25 is made low so as to melt only the part of the preliminarily melted ink layer 12c. Only the melted ink part 21c is transferred to the recording paper 24. |
