PURPOSE:To achieve a high-speed vertical shift of an ink ribbon, regardless of the ribbon cassette size, by relocating the ink ribbon position with a pair of ribbon guide bars applied which are driven by a motor. CONSTITUTION:While the printing cycle is under way, a motor 19 continues running, turning a ribbon guide bar 17 counterclockwise when viewed from above, and clockwisely rotating a guide bar 17'. An ink ribbon 5 guided in respective grooves 18 and 18' gets shifted up. The guide bars 17 and 17' are arranged with their axes crossing orthogonall with one another, thereby not friction takes place between the ink ribbon 5 and each of guide bars 17 and 17', and no excessive force is applied to said ink ribbon, wherein when a print hammer 4 completes a single cycle of printing stroke, the motor 19 starts running reversely, shifting up the ink ribbon 5, whereby a high-speed vertical shift of the ink ribbon 5 can be achieved with these guide bars kept serving to vertically change over a part of the ink ribbon. |
