PURPOSE:To manufacture coke so as to accurately obtain the target coke quality by using a specified equation of the relationship established among feed coal properties, operation conditions and after-hot reaction strength of coke. CONSTITUTION:Desired coke manufacture is effected by adjusting feed coal properties and/or operation conditions using equations (1)-(7) showing the relationship among the feed coal properties, operation conditions and after-hot reaction strength of coke. In said equations, CSR is after-hot reaction strength %; CRI is reaction rate; D115<150> is cold strength %; an index above 15mm after 150r.p.m.; PV is pore vol. of coke; Z is efficient pore vol. ratio; Lc is crystallinity of coke Angstrom ; Bi is basicity index of coke ash; St is crack factor; c is porosity dependence index; sigma is tensile strength of coke; sigma0 is strength of coke substrate; P is porosity of coke; Temp is carbonization temp.; -Ro is average reflectance of feed coal.
