NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula (R represents lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:Camptothecin.tetramethylammonium salt. USE:A water-soluble agent exhibiting antitumor action. PREPARATION:Camptothecin is suspended in ethanol, then a tetraalkyl ammonium hydroxide is added thereto. An ethanol-soluble metal salt such as lithium chloride is added to the resultant solution to obtain the compound expressed by the formula by salting-out thereof.
