PURPOSE:To provide a dental material having low odor and high water- resistance, and composed of a vinyl monomer having an aromatic group on the side chain and having a specific boiling point, an acrylic resin composed mainly of methyl methacrylate, and a polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:The objective dental material is composed of (A) a vinyl monomer having aromatic group on the side chain and having a boiling point of >=150 deg.C under 760 mmHg pressure, (B) an acrylic resin composed mainly of methyl methacrylate, and (C) a polymerization initiator. The preferable example of the component A is the compound of formula (R is H or CH3; m and n are 0-3), and the component B is preferably a copolymer containing >=20 wt% component A. The amounts of the components A and B are 20-50 wt% and 80-50 wt% based on the sum of both components, respectively, and the amount of the component C is 0.1-10 pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. of A+B. The dental material can be used not only as a filler for cavity but also as a dental adhesive.
