PURPOSE:To improve the comfortableness of the titled air conditioner and operate the air conditioner economically by a method wherein mixed mode region, in which some portion of or all of the operating modes with which the air conditioner is equipped are contained, is selected and the operating mode in said region is determined by judging the indoor air temperature. CONSTITUTION:The titled operating control device consists of a plurality of detection circuit or an outdoor air temperature detection circuit 1 and an indoor air temperature detection circuit 2 and a control unit 3 judging an operating mode within a region, in which some portion of or all of the operating modes equipped by the air conditioner co-exist promiscuously, in a certain region of the outdoor air temperature. When the selection of operating mode is intended, firstly the selection is done based upon the outdoor air temperature. However, in a certain outdoor air temperature region, a region, in which some portion of or all of the operating mode equipped by the air conditioner coexist promiscuously, is provided so as to select the operating ode in said outdoor air temperature region based upon the indoor air temperature, resulting in making the selection of the operating mode during the intermediate season between the summer season and the winter season or the season, during which the selection of operating mode based only upon the outdoor air temperature is unreasonable, appropriate, resulting in improving the comfortability of the air conditioner and at the same time preventing the operation under the neglected operating load condition due to the improper selection of mode from occurring and consequently enabling to operate the air conditioner economically.
