PURPOSE:To provide the titled fungicide containing a benzothiazolone derivative as an active component, having antibacterial activity, exhibiting remarkable effect against late blight of tomato, rice blast, powdery mildew of barley, etc., and having low phytotoxicity and residual tendency. CONSTITUTION:The benzothiazolone derivative of formula I (R<1> is 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy; R<2> is COR<3> or COOR<4>; R<3> and R<4> are 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl, or phenyl) is used as an active component of the objective fungicide. The active component may be used as it is or in the form of a wettable powder, solution, etc., by diluting with a liquid such as water or an organic solvent or with solid powder, etc. and optionally mixing with an adjuvant such as a wetting agent dispersing agent, etc. The active component of formula I wherein R<2> is COR<3> can be synthesized e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II with the acid halid4e of formula III (X is halogen).
