<p>In an electrical machine or device with at least a magnet arrangement having an electromagnet 1 and a permanent magnet 2, the permanent magnet 2 is situated with its pole faces abutting the core 4, 5, 6 of the electromagnet on both sides of the coil 3 of the electromagnet 1 and the ends of the core of the electromagnet form or support the pole pieces 7, 8 of the magnet arrangement. The electromagnet 1 is energized so that the poles N, S of the permanent magnet 2 are adjacent to the like poles of the electromagnet, wherein, for the favourable use of the material and the electrical energy obtained, the maximum value of the energizing current of the electromagnet 1 is sufficient, but not greater than that necessary for reaching the first practical saturation value of the magnetic flux in the pole ends of the core 4, 5, 6 of the magnet arrangement with the permanent magnet 2 removed therefrom. The cross-sectional area of the pole pieces 7, 8 has a size such that in the case of the permanent magnet 2 being present and the electromagnet 1 being fully energized, the magnetic flux is double the magnitude corresponding to the first practical saturation value.</p> |
