<p>9-(1,3-Dihydroxy 2-propoxymethyl)guanine is made by cyclising the imidazole ring of the cpd. of formula (I) by reaction with triethyl ortho-formate or diethoxy methyl acetate in 10-50% molar excess of the latter reactant, opt. in presence of an inert organic solvent at 20-120 deg.C. The prod. is isolated and purified by conventional methods.</p> |
