摘要 PURPOSE:To enable to control the quantity of heat transfer by a method wherein a U-shaped bend is formed in a heat insulating section and the titled heat pipe is rotated. CONSTITUTION:A heat pipe consists of a heat absorbing or evaporator section A, a heat insulating section B and a heat releasing or condenser section C. A bend 3 is formed in the heat insulating section B. The quantity of heat transfer can be controlled within the range from 0 to the maximum capacity of a heat pipe, which is constituted so as to be able to rotate at least 90 deg., due to the formation of the bend 3. Concretely, when the bend 3 is in the horizontal plane, the maximum capacity on the heat transfer of the heat pipe is shown, because no portion of working fluid obstructs the motive power of the heat pipe. When the U-shaped bend 3 is in the vertical plane, the liquid fills up the U-shaped portion by gravity, resulting in producing no shifting of evaporated gas from the heat absorbing or evaporator section A to the heat releasing or condenser section C and the same time no returning of condensed working liquid to the heat releasing or condenser section C and accordingly no heat transfer is resulted. When the minimum quantity of heat transfer (a) (not equal to 0) is desired, the proper depth of the U-shape and the proper quantity of working liquid are the answer for it. When the wanted value of control lies within the range from 0 to the maximum value of the quantity of heat transfer of the pipe, only thing to do is to select the proper angle of inclination of the U-shaped bend of the heat pipe within the range of 90 deg. of from the horizontal position to the vertical position of the bend.
