PURPOSE:To form a uniform electrodeposited mat paint film having no irregularity in the mat state by immersing an electrically conductive substrate in paint prepd. by mixing paint contg. polycarboxylic acid resin and amino resin as principal components with a specified wax dispersion to coat the substrate by electrodeposition and by baking the resulting paint film by heating. CONSTITUTION:Paint for electrodeposition consisting of polycarboxylic acid resin and amino resin as film forming components, a basic substance which neutralizes at least part of the carboxyl groups in the polycarboxylic acid resin, an org. solvent and water is mixed with an aqueous dispersion of wax which is solid at ordinary temp. and has a m.p. below the baking temp. of a paint film to prepare water-soluble or water-dispersible paint for electrodeposi tion. An electrically conductive substrate is immersed in the prepd. paint and coated as an anode by electrodeposition. The coated substrate is washed and heated to bake the resulting paint film. By this method, a uniform electrodeposited mat paint film can be formed without carrying out after- treatment.
