PURPOSE:To form a wear resistant film having superior adhesion as well as satisfactory hardness and lubricity by immersing an article to be treated in a composite electroplating bath contg. dispersed water insoluble particles and by plating the article while changing cathode current density. CONSTITUTION:Water insoluble particles or fibers of polytetrafluoroethylene resin or the like are dispersed in an electroplating soln. having a prescribed composition. An article to be plated is immersed in the resulting composite electroplating bath, and while cathode current density is changed at prescribed time intervals, the article is plated. The amount of water insoluble particles or fibers deposited is increased in accordance with reduction in cathode current density. Films contg. different amounts of water insoluble particles or fibers deposited are successively formed as one body by plating to form a film having desired wear resistance for each purpose.
