NEW MATERIAL:A quinoline carboxylic acid derivative of formula I (R is cyclic amino group which may be substituted and its salt. EXAMPLE:1-(3,3-Dimethyl-2-oxo-1-butyl)-6-fluoro-7-(1-piperazin-yl)-4-o xo-1,4-dihy droquinoline-3-carboxylic acid. USE:since it shows excellent antibacterial action against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, it is used as a remedy for infectious diseases caused by them. PREPARATION:For example, as shown in the reaction equations, the reaction between compounds of formulas II and III is conducted in a polar solvent such as dimethylfomamide in the presence of potassium carbonate at 70-120 deg.C to give a compound of formula IV, then, the product is heated in a solvent such as water in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide, then neutralized with an acid. The product of formula V is allowed to react with a cyclic amine to give the compound of formula I. |
