PURPOSE:To provide superior strength, castability and soundness after casting by adding Ca as well as one or more among cu, Sn and Cr and forming a matrix structure contg. a specified percentage of pearlite. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a cast iron material for surface hardening is composed of, by weight, 2.5-4% C, 2-3.5% Si, 0.5-11.5% Mn, <0.03% P, <0.03% S, <0.03%-0.02% Ca, one or more among 0.5-2% Cu, 0.05-0.3% Sn and 0.2-0.8% Cr, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The case iron material is a vermicular cast iron material having a matrix structure contg. >=70% pearlite.
