NEW MATERIAL:A nitropyridine of formula I (n is 1, 2: R1, R3, R4 are H, alkyl; R2 is alkylene; or R1 and R3 may bind with each other to form alkylene or osadialkylene) or its acid adduct. EXAMPLE:2-(2'-Dimethylaminoethylamino)-5-nitropyridine. USE:It is used as a radiation sensitizer in radiotherepy for malignant tumors. It markedly increases the sensitivity of low-oxygen cells to radiation to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy. The dose is 200-3000 mg in case of oral adminis tration, 0.5-500 mg in injection and 20-200 mg in the form of suppository. PREPARATION:For example, the reaction of 2-halopyridine with an amine of formula II gives a compound of formula I.
