PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin of practical use with good balance between flexibility, flexural properties and elongation, by reaction between specific aromatic diamine and aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin can be obtained by reaction, pref. in an inert gas atmosphere, between (A) an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and (B) aromatic diamines whose essential constituents and their contents are: (i) 10wt% of 2,8-diaminodiphenylene oxide, (ii) >=10wt% of 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether and (iii) >=10wt% of p-phynylenediamine.
