PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer with low melt viscosity and high solvent crocking resistance, by polycondensation of a specific bisphenol aromatic polycarbonate to a specific polyester precursor synthesized from specific bifunctional carboxylic acid (or its derivative) and diol. CONSTITUTION:First, a polyester precursor [terephthalic acid-based (poly)-ester] with a number-average polymerization degree 1-30 having structural unit of formula (Z' is ethylene or tetramethylene; n is 1-30) is prepared by reaction through conventional polycondensation process, between (A) either bifunctional carboxylic acid (mainly terephthalic acid) or its ester-forming derivative (e.g., oxalic acid) and (B) a diol (e.g., ethylene glycol). Next, this precursor and a bisphenol aromatic polycarbonate with a viscosity-average molecular weight >=5,000 are blended to proceed with polymerization, thus obtaining the objective copolymer.
