Electrodes for resistance welding are made from 'heavy metal', a sintered material consisting of 60-95% W and 5-40% Cu as principal components and opt. minor amts. of Ni and Fe. The electrodes are made by conventional powder metallurgical techniques, e.g. by classifying and mixing the powdered components, stabilising the mixt., pressing in moulds and sintering the pressed articles.
