PURPOSE:To prevent abrupt pressure variation thus to lower the noise by employing such shape as approximately V-shaped recesses are provided continuously in rotary direction of rotor for the opening at the center of rotor of suction path side port at the end of lagging side of rotation. CONSTITUTION:In a vane pump where a rotor 10 slidably fitted with plural vanes 11 to the outercircumference is contained in a space 9 of housing 3 rotatably around an eccentric axis 10a, oil suction side and delivery side ports 15, 16 for communicating the oil suction and delivery paths 4, 5 to a pump chamber 13 are provided to the housing 3. Here, the port 15 is formed such that the opening at the inner wall face 2a of cover side housing is arched at the leading section in rotary direction while at the lagging side the profile in the center of rotor is such that a plurality of V type recesses 15d directing toward the center of rotor are provided continuously in rotary direction of rotor.
