PURPOSE:To enhance the starting ability of an engine, by setting an engine cylinder to be subjected to fuel injection at first upon starting of the engine, so that fuel injection is carried out for the engine cylinder with such timing that a first ignition pulse is applied after starting. CONSTITUTION:There are provided an ignition pulse (IGP) generating means A and an engine cylinder discriminating signal generating means B for generating an engine cylinder discriminating signal for discriminating that an IGP signal generated from the former means A is for a specified engine cylinder. Further, there are provided a start and stop detecting means C for detecting the starting and stopping of he engine, and a memory means D for storing therein an engine cylinder to which the IGP signal is applied just before the stopping of the engine. Further, a control means E sets an engine cylinder to be subjected at first to fuel injection in accordance the cylinder data stored in the memory means D upon starting, and a fuel injection valve IjV is controlled to injects fuel into the engine cylinder with such timing that an initial IGP is applied.
