PURPOSE:To realize slow reproduction without noise, lateral deflection or movement by running a tape at both normal and low speed in the slow reproduction mode, writing a reproducing signal during normal running on a memory and reading it for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A tape drive motor 20 is controlled at the slow reproduction mode to bring the magnetic tape run to repetitive normal and low-speed running. In leading a reproducing signal from heads 1a, 2a during normal reproduction running via a reproducing processing circuit 4 and a switch 9, the signal is written on a digital memory 7 via an A/D converter 6. The reproducing signal stored in the memory 7 is led out via a D/A converter 8 and the switch 9 during a period except the write period of the head reproducing signal on the memory 7.
