PURPOSE:To prevent a head from abnormal abrasion or damage and to improve the performance and durability of a head adjusting mechanism by stably keeping contact pressure between a tape and the head. CONSTITUTION:A head supporting arm 20 is held at the shown position by the balance between the contact pressure of the tape 1 with the head 24 and the force of a spring 32 and a position adjusting roller 28 freely turnably fitted to the lower surface of the arm 20 by a fitting pin 26 is not contacted with a rotary drum 8. If the head 24 is deeply fitted to a groove 8b of the drum 8 because of the generation of looseness or the like of the tape, the roller 28 is abutted upon the drum 8 and the head 24 is abutted upon the bottom of the groove 8b. Consequently, the head can be prevented from damage.
