PURPOSE:To provide a recording material markedly enhanced in developed color density and color development rate, by using at least one alkyloxyaryl compound or alkenyloxyaryl compound as a solvent for an electron-donative color former. CONSTITUTION:Alkyloxyaryl compounds and alkenyloxyaryl compounds may be represented by the general formula, wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, alkenyl or halogen. The color former used in the recording sheet is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, a triarylmethane compound, a diphenylmethane compound, xanthene compound, a thiazine compound, a spiro compound or a mixture thereof. When an acid derived from a phenol, an aldehyde condensation novolak or a metallic salt thereof, or an aromatic carboxylic acid or a metallic salt thereof is used as a color developer in combination with the solvent, color development rate is markedly enhanced. |
