PURPOSE:To provide an auto-color-forming pressure-sensitive recording paper having a cast-coated surface with sufficient color forming performance and markedly reduced in possibility of unrequired color forming contamination, which comprises a base and a coated layer comprising a color former and a color developer, the coated layer having a cast surface. CONSTITUTION:The color former is a colorless compound capable of forming a color on making contact with a solid acid, and is crystal violet lactone or a fluoran derivative which may be defined as an electron-donative colorless compound. The color developer is a solid acid, more specifically, an electron-acceptive solid acid, and is a clay, an organic acid, a mixture of an organic acid and a metallic compound, an acidic polymer or the like. A coating liquid is applied to the base, and without or after solidifying the layer of the coating liquid, the coated layer is pressed against a specular-finished drum surface to obtain a smoothness of the cast-coated surface as measured on a Bekk smoothness tester according to JIS P8119 of not lower than 50sec, thereby obtaining an auto-color-forming pressure-sensitive recording paper having a cast surface markedly reduced in possibility of unrequired color forming contamination. |
