PURPOSE:To enable a drive wheel to be locked in stopping a vehicle by engine braking with a ratchet mechanism provided between a clutch outer and a clutch inner. CONSTITUTION:A ratchet 19 provided integrally with an output shaft is mounted inside a clutch outer. Ratchet claws 20 are mounted on a drive plate to be urged radially by a spring 21 for engaging the ratchet 19. The spring 21 has such strength that the claw 20a is moved radially inward to engage the ratchet 19 when an engine does not reach the idling condition. When the engine exceeds the idling condition the claw 20a is disengaged from the ratchet 19 by said strength of the spring as shown by the alternate long and two short dashes line.
