PURPOSE:To obtain an element, which can be readily manufactured and whose amount of displacement is large, by providing an insulator layer, which can undergo plastic deformation, at one part of the peripheral part of one main surface of a displacement generating layer, and providing an inner electrode layers at the remaining part. CONSTITUTION:By using a raw material such as PbO, ZrO2 and TiO2, a green sheet having a thickness of 250mum is prepared. A Pt paste 1 for forming an inner electrode layer 32 is printed and applied on the sheet. The shape of a displacement generating layer 3 is a rectangular shape of, e.g., 6X6mm. The paste Pt paste 1 is applied on the entire surface other than the part, whose width is 0.5mm from the edge parts of three sides. A carbon paste 2 is applied on the remaining part. A green sheet having lateral symmetry on the right and left is formed. The two kinds of these green sheets are alternately laminated by 20 layers and compressed. The sheets are cut into specified shapes and burned at 1,220 deg.C. At the time of burning, the carbon paste is disappeared, and a gap 34 is formed. The surface of this sintered body, where an inner electrode is exposed, is polished. An Ag paste is printed on the side surface, where the gap is present. The element is burned at 800 deg.C and an external electrode 35 is obtained. |
