PURPOSE:To speed up focusing by providing the titled circuit with a focus search signal generator, a brake signal generator, a focus error control signal forming means, and a focus actuator driving control means. CONSTITUTION:An output V24 of a level comparator 24 is supplied to an inversional reset terminal R' of the 1st reset priority flip-flop circuit 21 and set terminal S of the 2nd reset priority flip-flop circuit 26. An output Q1 is supplied to a control input terminal of th 1st switching circuit 16 and a reset terminal R and a status setting signal Q2 is supplied to a control input terminal of the 2nd switching circuit 27. A fixed terminal (b) is connected to an output terminal of the focus search signal generator 25, a fixed terminal (c) is connected to an output terminal of the brake signal generator 28 for generating a voltage having having reverse polarity and a variable terminal (a) controlled at its driving in accordance with a status setting signal Q2 is connected to the input terminal (c) of the 2nd switching circuit 16.
