PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording medium having an excellent video color signal to noise (CS/N) ratio, decrease drop-out and scratching flaws and has excellent runnability by incorporating an aliphat. alcohol, oleic acid, satd. fatty acid and fatty acid ester into a back layer and incorporating carbon black therein. CONSTITUTION:The back layer contains 5-100mg/m<2> at least three; the aliphat. alcohol of <=30C, oleoic acid and satd. fatty acid of 12-18C and the fatty acid ester consisting of fatty acid of 12-18C and aliphat. alcohol of 1-12C and contains the carbon black having 0.05-1mu average particle size. The thickness of the layer is preferably 1-3mu.
