PURPOSE:A microorganism which is capable of converting phenylpyruvic acid into L-phenylalanine is used in the presence of fumaric acid and ammonium ion or urea to obtain a large amount of L-phenylalanine. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism capable of converting phenylpyruvic acid into L-phenylalanilne in the presence of fumaric acid and ammonium ion or urea in Arthrobacter, Bacillus, Brevibacterium, Corynebacterium, Flavobacterium, Klebsiella, Kluyvera, or Micrococcus is cultured to form L- phenylalanine in the culture mixture or in an aqueous medium and the product is collected. |
