PURPOSE:To obtain an epoxide in high yield stably at a low cost, by oxidizing an olefin with a microorganism capable of producing the epoxide, belonging to the genus Nocardia, etc., and obtained by cultivation by a specific method. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, selected from the genuses Corynebacterium, Brevibacterium and Nocardia, and capable of oxidizing an olefin and converting the olefin into an epoxide, e.g. Corynebacterium alkanum ATCC21194 (FERM-P No.4598), is cultivated preferably for 10-40hr while kept in a stationary state by the semibatch method. The resultant cultivated microorganism cultivated by the semibatch method is used to oxide an olefin preferably at 20-50 deg.C and 5- 9pH for 1-6 days and given the aimed epoxide. |
