PURPOSE:When a hollow tube mainly made of quartz is heated and made into fiber, the start end of the hollow tube is heated at a specific temperature to enable high-efficiency production of hollow fiber with a large diameter ratio. CONSTITUTION:A hollow tube mainly consisting of quartz is fed at a prescribed rate by means of a feed mechanism 2 into the electrical resistance furnace 3 for heating and made into filament with the capstan roller 4. At this time, the start end of the hollow filament is heated at a temperature from 1,700-1,900 deg.C. (For example, the temperature in the furnace is kept at 1,800-2,000 deg.C and take-up speed is set to 2-30mm/min.) Thus, hollow filament of more than 80% diameter ratio is obtained. |
