PURPOSE:To provide the titled apparatus for the determination of ammoniacal nitrogen easily in high sensitivity, with an extremely small amount of specimen, by determining the sum of ammoniacal nitrogen and L-glutamic acid nitrogen in the specimen, and subtracting the separately determined L-glutamic acid nitrogen of the specimen from the sum. CONSTITUTION:The mobile phase 1, the luminol solution 14 and the potassium ferricyanide solution 18 are pumped with respective pumps, and the pipetting device 8, the column 9 containing immobilized L-glutamic acid dehydrogenase, and the column 10 containing immobilized L-glutamic acid oxidase are maintained to the stationary state at 37+ or -0.5 deg.C. the test liquid prepared gy removing the L-glutamec acid in the specimen by the addition of glutamic acid decarboxylase is put into the specimen vessel 5, sucked by the suction pump 7 of the pipetting device 8, and injected from the injector 6. The luminescent intensity of the reaction liquid produced by passing the specimen through the immobilized enzyme columns 9, 10 is detected by the detector 12, and the intensity value and the luminescent intensity of standard ammonia solution determined in advance are processed by the data processor 11 to calculate the ammoniacal nitrogen in the specimen.
