PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition useful for, e.g., food packaging, by efficiently removing low-boiling odorants in a composition consisting mainly of an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer rubber, by treating the composition at a specified temperature with constant agitation. CONSTITUTION:Pellets and/or crumb composition of a bulk density of 0.1-0.4/cc comprising 100-60wt% ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer rubber [e.g., ethylene/ propylene(/nonconjugated diene) copolymer rubber] and 0-40wt% polyolefin resin (e.g., PP) are placed in a vessel such as a planetary-screw mixer and heated with constant agitation to a temperature of from the critical blocking temperature of the pellets and/or the crumbs to this temperature +30 deg.C by means of hot air and/or external heating to evaporate low-boiling odorants, such as residual solvents, in the composition. The evaporated odorants are removed by suction and/or purge with an odorless gas to obtain an odorless composition. |
