PURPOSE:To make an automatic channel selection wide and sure by enabling to select a radio broadcasting out of the registration when the broadcast has the electric field intensity having an audible level or above. CONSTITUTION:When making the automatic channel selection of a receivable radio broadcasting according to data read from a ROM for the list of broadcasting stations, the detection is made by a electric field intensity detector 8 as to whether electric field intensity of receivable radio broadcasting is above a specified audible level or not. According to the result of the detection, the automatic channel selection is made preferentially for the radio broadcasting having electric field intensity at the specified level or above under the control of an ECU for a radio 9. The set is so devised that even if the radio broadcasting is not registered in the ROM3 for the list of broadcasting stations, the radio broadcasting can be selected automatically when it is detected by the electric field intensity detector 8 that the broadcasting has the specified level of the electric field intensity or above.
