PURPOSE:To obtain a buffer storage device which is decreased in storage capacity to a proper value by providing plural compartments in one group of RAMs. CONSTITUTION:The 1st address signal among input address signals 111 is sent out to a control circuit 4 through a register 3 to decide on a write compartment. When '0' is sent out as a write compartment signal 115, the 1st write data 101 (bytes 0-3) is written in an area A of the 1st memory 1 and the 2nd write data 102 (bytes 4-7) is written in an area D of the 2nd memory memory 2. Similarly, when '1' is outputted as the write compartment signal 115, the 2nd write data 102 (bytes 4-7) is written in an area B of the 1st memory 1 and the 1st write data 101 (bytes 0-3) is written in an area (c) of the 2nd memory 2.
