The invention relates to a compactor/collector device for refuse or waste, of the type comprising a movable forcing-back panel 5 made in a single piece, arranged in order to move in a rear hopper 3 with a view to compressing and pushing back the waste towards a front bucket (skip) 1. The forcing-back panel 5 is actuated by a set of power jacks 6 and its movement is guided by a set of auxiliary jacks 9 and by a kinematic guide system 12, 14, 15 which make it possible to give the said panel a high opening position in which the panel extends rearwards in a general direction which is approximately horizontal; the panel thus retracted upwards entirely clears the rear opening of the hopper. The system is capable of operating in accelerated three-stage cycles. <IMAGE>
