PURPOSE:To prevent a rack from slipping and turning over by fitting a magnet for stopping a slip to the tip part of the rack leg of an X-ray irradiation part. CONSTITUTION:A jig 20 for rack fixation is fitted to the lower end part o the rack leg 1. The jig 20 consists of a housing 21, a connection member 22, a thrust bearing 23, a nut 24, a magnet 25, a pin 26, etc. When the residual stress of a roll 5 is measured, the magnet 25 of the jig 20 for rack fixation attracts and contacts the surface of the roll 5 which is a ferromagnetic body. Consequently, the jig 20 for rack fixation is fixed securely on the surface of the roll 5. Then, the rack 1 is rotated properly to set the fitting part 4 of an X-ray irradiating device opposite a specific measurement part. In this state, the measured part of the roll 5 is irradiated with X rays to measure the residual stress.
