The invention relates to a play or gymnastics framework essentially comprising wooden beams, having a connecting device which screws at least two beams, preferably consisting of round wood, to one another in the region where they cross and which passes through continuously aligned transverse bores in the two beams. The invention is based on the object of designing a gymnastics or play framework of the type described at the beginning with simple means in such a way that its beams can be connected to one another quickly and securely. This object is achieved by the connecting device having a metal sleeve which has an internal thread, is open on both sides and can be fitted into the transverse bores, and two screws which have approximately mushroom-shaped truss heads and can be screwed into the sleeve.
