The invention relates to a vehicle wheel with bound beads of its pneumatic tyre, the zenith part of the tyre being supported during emergency running on a counter bearing between the beads. In order to ensure that the tyre can still transmit considerable forces even during emergency running without having to fear premature destruction of the tyre, according to the invention the binding of the beads can be eliminated at certain points by means of an axial and/or radial adjustment of the wheel body or of the parts of the wheel body which bring about the binding of the beads. This adjustment takes place as a function of the internal pressure of the tyre. Expediently, the binding of the beads is effected with a ring on which the tyre rests laterally on the outside and can be displaced laterally outwards for the purpose of releasing the binding.
