Method of producing a novel tetraploid and bisabolol-rich camomile, whose flowers, when dried at 40 DEG C, contain at least 100 mg % of chamazulene and at least 200 mg % of (-)- alpha -bisabolol, the content of the remaining bisaboloids being below 50 mg %, by subjecting a diploid camomile which has first been tetraploidised, or a tetraploid camomile, in which (-)- alpha -bisabolol is the main component of the essential oil, to a variety of selection and propagation steps.
