PURPOSE:To improve drivability and safety during a rainfall, by a method wherein, through comparison of reference acceleration and deceleration, set based on an amount of rainfall, with actual acceleration and deceleration of a vehicle, a 2-wheel driving condition and a 4-wheel driving condition are shifted. CONSTITUTION:During operation of an engine, in a microcomputer 28 containing an operational processor 30, reference acceleration DA0 or reference deceleration DD0 are set from an amount of rainfall determined according to an output from a raindrop sensor 25 attached to a hood 24 of a car body. The reference acceleration DA0 and reference deceleration DD0 are compared with the actual acceleration DA and deceleration DD detected by an acceleration deceleration sensor 3, and in the case of DA>=DA0 or DD>=DD0' a driving wheel shifting device 1is controlled so that a car is brought to a 4-wheel driving sate. Meanwhile, in the case of DA<DA90 or DD<DD0' the driving wheel shifting device 1 is controlled so that a car is brought to a 2-driving wheel state.
