A groundbait for fishing contains powdered dried invertebrates, such as fly larvae or maggots and earthworms or lumbricus. The groundbait is produced by (1) formation of a paste by wet fine grinding of live maggots or worms; (2) addition of polyoses such as starch and preservatives to the paste or to the worms before grinding; (3) drying by an apparatus having a scraped surface or by spray drying. The bait may also contain protein such as fish meal or meat; maize or rice, copra, peanut or soya cake and breadcrumbs. |
