PURPOSE:To separate a transfer material always in a satisfactory state by changing the discharge current of an electrostatic separating means according to the image density at the front end of the image to be transferred so that the separating conditions are made correct. CONSTITUTION:A photosensor 10 is disposed at the proper point on the upper stream side of a primary electrostatic charger 2 when viewed in the traveling direction of a photosensitive body 1 and the light reflected from a semi-transparent plate 14 disposed in the optical path for the light reflected from an original is received by the photosensor 10 by which the density at the front end of the original image is detected. The density signal is inputted to a control part 13 which impresses the voltage meeting the image density to an electrostatic charger 4 prior to transfer, an electrostatic charger 6 for transfer and an electrostatic charger 7 for sepn. so as to obtain the adequate separating conditions. The transfer material is hardly separable if, for example, there is no toner at the front end of the image and therefore the separating function is improved by increasing the current of the charger 4, decreasing the current of the charger 6 and increasing the current of the charger 7. |
