PURPOSE:To reproduce both of characters and photographs vividly when both of them exist together on an original, by designting a multigradation range of the ori- ginal to store designation data and transmitting only the designated range with multigradations on a basis of this data. CONSTITUTION:A partial transmission designation column A where a transmission inhibition part (a) of an original 1 should be entered and a multigradation transmission designation column B where a multigradation transmission part (b) are provided on an OMR card 4d having the same size as the original. Signals of parts (a) and (b) read from the card 4a are stored in an OMR data memory 7a. A discrimination control part 8a discriminates OMR data of the memory 7a sent from a main control part 3a, and a switching part 13 is controlld to the route of read data to the side of a multigradation converting part 14 when the part (b) is designated, and a transmission inhibiting signal is sent to the main control part 3a when the part (a) is designated. The switching part 13 sets normally the route of image data to the side of a binary converting part 5 and switches it to the multigra- dation converting part 14 on a basis of the command of the control part 8a.
