In a motor vehicle with a front and a rear axle, each drivable by way of a differential, and a transmission driving the differentials, which transmission produces a possibly different drive torque distribution to the axles, in order to obtain an optimum cornering control as a function of the steering angle of the front wheels, the drive torque distribution can be reduced to 15% or on the rear wheels increased to 85%. The drive torque is varied smoothly as the steering angle increases and where necessary with increasing drive power output of the internal combustion engine.
