PURPOSE:To aim at reducing the wave making resistance of a ship bow section even low load sailing, by forming a bulge section having a liner section, in the bow section below the load water line, such that the underwater maximum width part of the bulge section at the position of the fore perpendicular is set to be above the nose section. CONSTITUTION:In a low speed fattern ship sailing at a low speed and having more than 0.75 block coefficient, a projected bulge section 5 having a linear section 5b is formed in the bow section below the load water line, the linear section 5b extenging downward from a nose section C thereabove. The projected distance (a) of the bulge section 5 is selected to be 0.5 to 3% of the length between pependiculars of the hull,l and the height H of the nose section C from the lower end of the hull bottom is selected to be more than 65% of the full load draft (d) of the bow section. Furtherl, the underwater maximum width part W2 of the budlge section is set to be above the nose section C. With this arrangement, vortices in the water surface in the vicinity of the bow section may be reduced so that it is possible to aim at enhancing the propelling performance of the hull upon full load draft sailing and as well at reducing the wave making resistance of the bow section upon low load water line sailing.
