METHOD AND MEDIUM FOR THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING

PURPOSE:To increase the bonding strength of transfer recording by a method in which a coat layer containing a hot melt binder and its compatible material to be thermally transfered is formed on the surface of a recording medium base, and the surface roughness of the coat layer is controlled to 1.0mum or less as the center line roughness. CONSTITUTION:A layer composed of a hot melt binder and a pigment, having a reduced viscosity by temperature-rise recording control and a transferabioity to a recording medium, is provided on the surface of a heat-resistant sheet base to form a thermal transfer layer. The surface of the thermal transfer layer is roughened by adding grains of a grain size greater than the thickness of the layer. A thermal transfer recording sheet with the thermal transfer layer is obtained. On the other hand, a recording material having a coat layer containing a hot melt binder and its compatible material and having an average roughness (for center line)of 1.0mum or less is formed. The thermal transfer layer is transferred to the recording material by using the thermal transfer recording sheet and a thermal recording head.
