PURPOSE:To continuously control transfer-recorded density in correspondence with temperature rise recording control, by a method wherein microcapsules comprising as a core material a solvent which dissolves at least one of constituents of an ink material with the solubility increased with a rise in tem perature are provided on the surface of an ink material layer. CONSTITUTION:When an electric current is passed to a heating resistor 350 of a thermal recording head 300 to generate heat, the microcapsules 125 are heated through a base 110 and the ink material 120. The microcapsules are broken according to the pressure and the quantity of heat applied, a solvent 123 exudes to the surface of the ink material layer 120 and to the surface 200a of the recording medium as indicated by 123', and at least one of the binder material 121 and a color material 122 is thermally melted according to the quantity of heat to form a molten ink 120', which is adhered to the surface 200a of the recording medium. Accordingly, since the transfer-recorded density is continuously controlled in correspondence with the quantity of heat, namely, the with Pw of pulses impressed on the heating resistor 350, gradation recording of intermediate gradation images can be conducted through pulse width modulation. |
