PURPOSE:To suppress atomization and self-discharge while to reduce over recharging voltage, in an electrode for alkali cell employing hydrogen occlusion alloy as hydrogen electrode, by micro capsulating the hydrogen occlusion alloy. CONSTITUTION:In an electrode for alkali cell employing hydrogen occlusion alloy such as LaNi5 as hydrogen electrode, the hydrogen occlusion alloy is micro capsulated by coated with thin metal film through chemical galvanization, for example. Nickel, cobalt, iron, etc. having hydrogen permeability is employed for said thin metal film. Hydrogen occlusion alloy having average grain size of 0.5-100mu is employed and the thickness of the metal film to be micro- capsulated is about 0.1-20mu. Consequently, atomization and self-discharge can be suppressed while over recharging voltage can be reduced. |
