PURPOSE:To miniaturize the main body of the remote control device by forming a guide rails on the side portions of a remote control operating portion, and causing a remote control monitoring portion along the guide rails to use the same as an opening and closing lid. CONSTITUTION:An operating portion 2 is provided in the main body 1 of the remote control device, and guide rails 6 are formed at the side portions of the main body 1. A monitor portion 4 slides along the guide rails 6. After a power source switch 8 is turned ON, when the driving condition of the air conditioner is changed, the monitoring portion 4 is caused to slide and the upper surface of the operating portion 2 is opened, and thereafter the operating portion 3 is manipulated to set the driving condition. In this instance, the operating portion 3 is manipulated while observing the display portion of the monitoring portion 4. When the setting is completed, the monitoring portion 4 is caused to slide to close the operating portion 2.
